Little Love
Unfortunately, due to a number of reasons, I have fallen off the wagon and time has slipped away. It is a good thing tho that one needn't muddle in the past, rather to enjoy what each day has given and to make improvements where they are needed.
One of my resolutions this year is to get back on the blogging train.. I felt it appropriate to start on fresh ground with a very appropriate new piece titled 'Little Love'.
Those who are interested in bidding on the auction can follow this link
If you would like to follow my work on Facebook don't forget to give my page a 'like'.
Thanks for looking ..and stay warm!

'Expressions of a Sami Heritage'
NOTICE>>> RECEPTION at NYM Culture Center has been rescheduled
for the 28th of May from 6 to 8 pm. My apologies if this causes any
inconvenience.
“Expressions of a Sami Heritage”, an exhibit of Kayleen’s new oil paintings, continues through Saturday, May 31. “No matter what or how I paint, the destination is the same. A relative moment of closure and of feeling complete.” Her expressive oil portraits invite your exploration as she interprets her heritage. A reception honoring Kayleen will be hosted at the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center on Tuesday, May 13th from 6-8:30 pm. The center is open Tuesday – Friday 10:00 am to 5:00 pm and on Saturday – 10:00 am to 3:00 pm
Kayleen Horsma is a fiscal year 2013 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board; This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund. Additionally, she also received an Individual Artist grant in 2014 from the McKnight Foundation.
'I am so grateful, and would like to give a round of applause for the local support and instrumental assistance to fulfill portions of the granting programs. A collection of my work will be displayed at the First National Bank of Menahga for a short period following the solo at the center and also to the West Central Alliance, whose assistance saved me both time and money. Thank you both for the support of my work, as well the arts. '
Currently her work is also on display in a group exhibit, MN Creates, located at the Minnesota State Office Building on 100 Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in St. Paul.
Kayleen Horsma lives in the Menahga area and began working with oil medium in 2007. She was chosen as the inaugural Master Artist of the Five Wings Arts Council in 2011.
